Kay Myers

Sonya "Kay" Myers, 81, of Lexington, NC passed away July 20, 2022.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, July 25, 2022, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member, by the Rev. Jennifer Ginn, burial will follow in Sandy Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service.

Kay was born November 28, 1940, in Davidson County to Edward Leonard Byerly and Bonnie Swicegood Byerly. Kay always had a love for childern and worked as a Teacher's Assistant in Kindergarten and First Grade, she retired from West Hoke Elementary School, in Raeford, NC after 27 years and moved back to her roots in Lexington. She fiercely loved her own childern and grandchildren and loved to brag about them at every opportunity. She especially enjoyed vacationing at the beach with all her grandchildren when they were little. Until the last 6 months when she moved to Assisted Living, she was active as President of Joy (Just Older Youth) Club, Senior Moments, Women's Circle at St. Luke's as well as Sunday School. Her faith was strong and her heart was big. Our precious Mother/Nana/Grandma will live forever in our hearts. Kay is preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are her son, Charles Myers (Lisa), daughter Carla Meissner (Mark), grandchildren, Chip Myers, Kevin Myers, Mallory Meissner, Ashley Meissner, Kelsey Meissner and Dylan Brown (Bethany).
