The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Wesley Heights United Methodist Church.

A funeral will follow the visitation at the church with Pastor Joe Barbee and Pastor Jay Belk officiating.

Burial will conclude services at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Kay was born on July 5, 1955, in Davidson County, to the late Reid Lohr and Anita Tennat Lohr. She worked for many years at First Union Bank and Lexington Middle school and was a beloved presence at each location. Kay was known as the one who had all the answers any time there was a question at the bank or the school, and she would offer help as often and in any way she could when it was needed.

Her selfless nature and giving heart only multiplied the ease and comfort she offered with her warm and caring smile. She had a way of making everyone she came across feel important and accepted from her family to friends, and even to strangers she met along the way.

Kay’s love and support extended from her family and work life to her church as she was a dedicated member, willing to perform any task put before her. She directed the choir, played the organ, and served as the treasurer for a time.

Though she was a true servant to those in her life, no one could compete with her family. She was a devoted wife of 51 years to her husband, Johnny, and a loving mother to her three children. Traveling to the mountains was a much-loved activity she enjoyed with her family and visiting with her children and grandchildren in North Dakota were trips she made as frequently as she could. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them, as they brought her immense joy.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Left to carry on her light, are her husband, Johnny Dale Harris Sr, of the home; sons, JD Harris, of Lexington, and Adam Christopher Harris (Rachel), of Grand Forks, ND; daughter, Katherine Lynn Harris, of Grand Forks, ND; and five grandchildren, Tyler (Summer), Aireana, Charles, Emmy, and Ella.
