Jana Kaye Sanders, beloved wife for 44 years of Pastor Gerald M. Sanders, was called unto Eternal Life in Christ Jesus on March 12, 2011, in the arms of her husband at her home in Lexington, NC.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Beck’s Reformed Church with the Rev. Gerald M. Sanders, Dr. Melvin Palmer, Kevin Firquin and Steve Regan officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tasso United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cleveland, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mrs. Sanders was born December 17, 1946, in Greensboro, NC to Hallie Martin Hawkins and the late William L. Hawkins of Abingdon, Va. She was a graduate of Abingdon High School in Abingdon, Va., Hiwassee College in Madisonville, Tenn., and East Tennessee State University. She loved her Lord Jesus, her family, her husband, and churches. Her last words to her husband were, “I am going to Heaven! I am going to see Jesus!” She was a member of Beck’s Reformed Church where she served the Lord with her husband, Pastor Sanders. She loved her Christian family at Beck’s with the heart of a loving mother.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are her mother; her beloved two sons and daughters in law, Gerald William and wife, Heather, of Benton, Tenn., and James Martin and wife, Sallie, of Old Fort, Tenn.; one grandson, Gabriel Wyatt of Benton, Tenn. She is also survived by a great host of Christian brothers and sisters from the churches and communities where she and her husband ministered in Tennessee, Ohio, Virginia, Hawaii, and North Carolina.
The Elders of the Beck’s Reformed Church will serve as pallbearers and the Deacons of the church will serve as honorary pallbearers for the service of Mrs. Sanders.
