Kelly Parks Burr 81 passed away Saturday afternoon July 7, 2012 at Winston Salem Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 12 at Faith Missionary Alliance Church with Rev. Albert Smith. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
He was born in Conrad Hill Township, Lexington to the late D. E. and Callie Parks Burr. He attended Davis-Townsend and Fairgrove High School, graduating in 1949 and in 1951 he graduated from Wingate Junior College. Mr. Burr was employed by several local trucking firms, among them Glosson Motor Lines in Lexington. He also had a career in real estate sales in Winston-Salem. Kelly attended Faith Missionary Alliance Church in Winston-Salem.
In 1968, he married Doris Fritts Jackson who preceded him in death in 1991. Survivors include long-time friend, companion and caregiver, Martha Cheek; son, Gary Jackson (Dana) of Newport Beach, CA; brother Edwin B. “Pete” Burr (Anne) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Wayne Jackson (Teresa) of Lexington, Dr. Steven Jackson (Tiffanie) of Saxapahaw, NC, Jason Jackson (Jill) of Brandon, Florida; six great-grandchildren, Hunter & Dawson Jackson (Lexington, NC), Taylor, Maycee & Immanuel Jackson (Brandon, FL), Harper Jackson (Saxapahaw, NC) and nephew Mark Burr and niece, Jan Heyn both of Atlanta, GA.
