Kenneth Bennett

Mr. Kenneth Chester Bennett, 84, of Tussey Road, died Sunday at his home after an extended illness. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 30, 2009 from the home. Mr. Bennett was born July 17, 1924 in Washington, DC to Ralph W. and Annie E. Christiansen Bennett. He served in the US Army during World War II, under General George Patton. After the war, he graduated from George Washington University. He worked for various engineering companies and later, for the Department of the Navy as a project manager on the Polaris, Poseidon, and Trident Nuclear Missile Program. He and his wife moved to Lexington in 1978 to found Goshen Ministry, and in 1979 he and Jack Stoner started the Church at Lexington, a home fellowship. He is survived by his wife, Helen Dean Bennett of the home; his sons, Dale W. Bennett of Seattle, WA, and Kimberly D. Bennett, and his wife, Jing, of Shanghia, China; his daughter, Christie Aviar, and her husband, Dominick Palamenti, of Palmyra, VA; his brother, Richard Bennett, and his sister, Margaret Zimmer, both of Winter Haven, FL; four grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, PO Box 1941, Lexington NC 27293.
