Kenneth Dermont Byerly, 61, of Holiday Drive, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Brian Center Nursing Home following an eight month illness.
The funeral will be at 10 am Saturday at First Wesleyan Church by the Revs. Michael Greer and James Capps. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Byerly was born December 2, 1946, in Davidson County to Dermont Byerly and Vergie Yountz Byerly. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he had served two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea. He was a member of the VFW Post 3074. Mr. Byerly was also a glass handler for Atrium Windows and Doors.
Surviving are is wife, Johanne Williams Byerly of the home; sons, Kenneth Dermont Byerly Jr. of Thomasville and Jeffrey Wayne Byerly of Lexington; sister Martha Hoffman and husband, William Ray, of Lexington; sister-in-law, Vickie Starr of Lexington; brother-in-law, Andy Williams of Lexington; nephews, Douglass Harmon and wife, Shelia, and Timothy Harmon and wife, Shelley, and their two daughters, all of Durham; and a niece, Amy Hoffman Boone and husband, Danny, of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
