Kenneth Burgess Fowler

Kenneth Burgess Fowler, 90 of Floyd Church Road, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Lexington Health Care. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mr. Fowler was born on September 27, 1917 in Rochelle Park, NJ to John Hunter Fowler and Ethel Burgess Fowler. A lifetime resident of Hunterdon County, NJ until 2005, he attended schools in High Bridge, NJ, and retired from State of New Jersey, Division of Fish and Game. He was self-employed with B & F Contractors and Taylor Wharton, a patternmaker. He served as chairman of the Hunterdon County Democratic Party for many years, was on the Lebanon Township Board of Elections for several years, and was instrumental in organizing the first PTA at the Lebanon Township Elementary School and served as the first president (1948-1950). His interest were hunting, fishing, reading, and following current events. He was a veteran of the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946 during World War II, where he served on the Cruiser USS Birmingham and was a member of the VFW in NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Fowler. Surviving are his wife of 66 years Elsa Boehme Fowler of Lexington; son Bobby Fowler and wife, Barbara Fechtman Fowler of Lexington; a daughter; Donna Fowler Ferguson and husband Nelson of York, PA; four grandchildren Lisa Ferguson Branick, Jeffrey M. Ferguson, Robert J. Fowler, Jr. and D. Matthew Fowler and four great-grandchildren.
