Kenneth Clark Owens, 76, of Lexington, died Monday, December 21, 2015, at his home.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ with the Rev. Darrell Sluder officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 7 prior to the service at the church and other times at the home
Mr. Owens was born March 5, 1939, in Davidson County, to James Clark Owens and Mary Ruth Starr Owens. He was retired from Davidson County Sheriff’s office where he had served over 25 years as a deputy. He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and a local CB Club. He loved hunting with his daughter, Libby and fishing with his daughter, Tammy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Diane Perrell Owens; and a sister, Kaye Bowers.
Surviving are daughters, Libby Owens Hemenway, Tammy L. Owens, both of Lexington, Cindy Wrenn of Greensboro, and Amy Oxner and husband Tony of Southmont; grandchildren, Zac Hayes, Brynn Surratt, Aaron Oxner, and Devin Oxner; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Hayes and Alice Hayes; brothers, Don Owens and wife Theresa of Southmont and David Owens and wife Penny of Richfield; and sister, Sue Reid of Reeds; and his loving canine companion, Gracie.
