Kenneth Eugene Ward, 83, of Lexington passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, July 31, 2022.
A memorial service will be held at Davidson Funeral Home on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 11:30 AM with a committal service following at Salisbury National Cemetery with full military honors. The visitation will be Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 4 PM to 6 PM at Davidson Funeral Home.
Kenneth was born on December 9, 1938, to the late James Thomas Ward and Pearl Ellis Ward in Johnson County, NC. He retired after 21 years in the United States Army which included 2 tours in Viet Nam and being stationed in Germany 3 times. He also retired from the State of NC Department of Transportation after working 15 years as a surveyor. Kenneth was proud to serve his country and even more proud of his role as a husband, father and grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of faith in God and love for family. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis Russell Ward, and Etchell Ward; and one sister, Mary Ellen Stroud.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 58 years, Peggy Ward of the home; daughters, Bonnie Snider of the home, and Mary Ann Ward of Lexington; sons, Kenneth Eugene Ward II (Trish) of SC, and Robert Joseph Ward (Candida) of Gastonia; one brother, Connie Mack Ward (Susan); one sister, Elsie Lea Baines (Brooks); sister-in-law, Elsie Ward; eight grandchildren, Robbie Snider (Amber), Dillon Snider, Destiny Watts, Gage Watts, Wesley Meachum, Isabella Ward, Connor Ward, and Charlie Ward; and three great-grandchildren, Sloan, Scarlett, and Violet.
He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
