Kenny Wright

Kenny Wright, 60, of Linwood passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021. A graveside service will be held 11 am Thursday at the Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. John Huckabee and the Reverend Ray Nance Howell, IV officiating. Mr. Wright was born on November 20, 1961, in Forsyth County to Cecil Edwin Wright Jr. and Betsy Wilson Wright. He was a member of Churchland Baptist Church, where he had served on many different committees and was a Deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents. Kenny had many jobs at one time. He started his dream job at age 18 working at Lexington Fire Department. He retired as a Captain at the age of 38 with 20 years’ service from the Fire Department. While working at The LFD he started his own Business, Wright’s Landscaping Co Inc. Owner/Operator for 32 years which included a Wright’s Flower Farm Green house. He also was a member of Churchland Fire Department for 27 years, serving on the Board of Directors and Fire Chief from 1992 to 2007. Kenny was part owner of Four Needles Inc. in Scotland County. He also served as President of Churchland Booster Club for one year and served on The West Davison High School Advisory Council for one year. Mr. Wright loved the outdoors and hunting deer, turkey, or trapping coyotes with his family and friends. He was a longtime member of Morgan Hunt Club in Scotland County. This was his second family. He loved cooking for everyone at the hunt club or at home with his family and friends. Kenny also loved sitting around the fire barrel on Friday night at the hunt sharing hunting stories. Kenny was always helping people and was a jack of all trades. When someone had an emergency such as sickness or a plumbing issue, they would call Kenny, some weeks he would have 3 or 4 calls. He was one of a kind and would give you the shirt off his back. He was a great friend and mentor to many. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Karen Pressley Wright of the home; one son, Kenneth Wright Jr. (Haley) of Linwood; one daughter, Stacey Wilson (Adam) of Linwood; two brothers, Kevin Wright (Allison) of Linwood and Max Leinhenseder of Lexington; and two grandchildren, Archer and Bellamy as well as another grandson on the way. Also surviving are Kent and Carolyn Pressley, Glen and Tracy Pressley, Kim and Steve Allen, Cheryl Brannock; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Churchland Baptist Church Building Fund.
