Lamar Clark

December 5, 1943 — November 20, 2018

Glenn Lamar Clark, age 74, of Lexington passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Hinkle Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Lexington with the Rev. Dr. Ray Howell, III and Rev. Tommy Wilson officiating. There will be a private inurnment held at the First Baptist Church Columbarium.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. Clark was born in Anderson County, SC on December 5, 1943 to Hugh Glenn Clark and Janie Christine Swaney Clark. He worked for Binnings Building Products starting in 1966 and returned to Lexington in 1990 as VP of sales and marketing prior to retiring in 2007. Mr. Clark was a member of First Baptist Church in Lexington, where he was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He graduated from Lexington Sr. High in 1962 and went on to graduate from Chowan University from where he obtained a Business Degree and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in football and track, and also attended Elon University. Mr. Clark resided in Fayetteville for 24 years and was an active member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and taught Sunday school to the youth for 15 years. He was also a member of the Fayetteville Jaycees and a member of the Fayetteville Sports Club where he was responsible for the Women’s ACC basketball tournaments held in the Fayetteville Coliseum. Mr. Clark was one of the founders of Highland Savings & Loan, coached little league baseball and was an active member of the Terry Sanford High School Boosters Club for many years. He was a loving, devoted, family man who lived his life as an example to others and will be dearly missed and never forgotten. Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Marinda Conrad Clark of the home; two sons, David Lamar Clark (Misty) of Lexington and Foy Del Clark (Kristen) Charlotte; one daughter, Mary Christine “Christy” Clark of Lexington; three brothers, John Clark (Sylvia) of Greer, SC, Evangelist Jimmie Clark (Karla) of Lexington and Joe Clark (Donna) of Pendleton, SC; and seven grandchildren, Joseph, Thomas, Henry, William, Taylor, Carol Ann, and David Jr.
