Lamarr Nifong

Loving Husband, father and grandfather Lamarr Nifong went home to be with the Lord on  Tuesday, February 6, 2018, he was 77.   A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Midway United Methodist Church where he was a member. The funeral will be conducted by Pastors Chuck Ireson and David Hedrick, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday in The Christian Life Center at Midway UMC and at other times at the home.   Lamarr was born January 24, 1941 in Davidson County to Clifford and Sallie Rutledge Nifong.  He was a retired, self-employed farmer. He and his wife were owners of Nifong Sausage for 30 years and he also raised tobacco, corn and pigs. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sandra Zink and brothers-in-law, Paul Zink and Stan Sowers.   Surviving are his wife of 54 years. Barbara (Bobbie) Hill Nifong of the home. Children, David and his wife Sheri, JoAnn Snyder and husband Craig, Johnny and wife Robin.  Five grandchildren; Emily, Austin, Connor, Jacob and Seth Nifong.   Also surviving are his brothers, Richard Nifong (Becky), Dallas Nifong (Tannis), Randy Nifong (Karen) and sisters, Linda Zink (Terry) and Willa Sowers.   Memorials may be made to Midway United Methodist Church, 9795 Old Hwy 52, Lexington NC 27295.   Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.   Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net.
