Larry Kenneth Ballew, loving father, grandfather and son, 66, of Midway School Road, died suddenly Thursday, August 4, 2016, at his home following a period of declining health.
The funeral will be 11a.m. Wednesday, August 10, at Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Walser officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in National Cemetery in Salisbury. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mr. Ballew was born July 30, 1950, in Davidson County to the Rev. Junior Kenneth Ballew and Frankie Walser Ballew. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was an auto salesman for 31 years and member of Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing, fishing and camping. His father preceded him in death.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Lexington are son, Kevin Ballew and wife Kristen of Thomasville; daughter, Brooke Easley of Thomasville; grandchildren, Carson and Chloe Easley, Colby, Mason, and Carley Ballew; brother, Allen Ballew and wife Margaret of Lexington; sister, Bonnie Ballew Mauney and husband Jeff of Lexington; several nieces and nephews; and his special canine companions, Buddy and Bandit.
