Larry Willard Blevins

Larry Blevins, 74, of Davidson County, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, and loved ones, on Friday morning, April 7, 2023.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 3:00 PM, at True Light Baptist Church, with Pastor Harold Harper officiating. Family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the church, prior to the service.

Larry was born on April 5, 1949, in Smyth County, VA, to the late Willard Jack Blevins and Lessie Anderson Stapleton. He worked for 30 years as the owner and operator of Blevins Drywall. He enjoyed playing softball for many years and was a travelling softball coach for a time. Larry loved being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  His most favorite thing to do was to take his beagles on rabbit runs. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Gary Blevins; brother, Jackie Blevins; and stepmother, Dorothy Blevins.

Left to cherish his memory, is his loving wife of 50 years, Janice Blevins of the home; son, Scotty Blevins of Lexington; daughters, Lisa Blevins and fiancé Keith Scoggins of Lexington, and Wendy Blevins Whitmire of Salisbury; brothers, Dale Blevins of VA, Allen Blevins and wife Angie of VA, Ted Blevins and wife Jan of VA, and Curtis Blevins of VA; sisters, Sherry Blevins Jump and husband Michael of Lexington, Julie Blevins Jones and husband Farrell of VA, Jill Blevins Robinson and husband George of VA, and Lori Blevins and husband Tim of VA; grandchildren, Katie Blevins, Dylan Blevins, Emma Whitmire, Tyler Whitmire, and Brent Blevins; step-father, Douglas Stapleton of VA; and beloved fur-baby, Holly.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jersey Baptist Church for donating their time and energy to build the ramp outside Larry’s home.
