Larry Joe Bonnett

Larry Joe Bonnett, 87, a resident of Lexington, formerly of Rimersburg, PA, was received into the arms of Jesus on October 10, 2022. Larry was born on June 1, 1935 to the late Josephus C. and Virginia Milner Bonnett. He retired from Owens Brockway Glass in 1991, where he was a shift foreman, after 36 years of service. On August 17, 1973 he married the love of his life, Clara M Crissman. Larry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Larry graduated in 1953 from Union Joint High School in Rimersburg, PA. He then earned a degree at Davidson County Community College in Welding. Larry was a member of Paul’s Chapel where he was a Deacon and an Elder and a 30-year member of the West Lexington Lions. He was an avid collector of ball Caps and loved golfing so much, he traveled to Scotland to play at St. Andrews. Larry also enjoyed working with his hands, including woodworking and gardening, and watching his favorite TV programs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Bonnett; a step-son, Richard Switzer, a granddaughter, Lindsay Bonnett; a brother, Edson Bonnett; and sisters, Beverly Wright and Judy Ballentine.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM in Paul’s Chapel Reformed Church with Pastor Aaron Long officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292, Paul’s Chapel, 2791 W. Center Street Ext., Lexington, NC 27295, and/or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 49 years, Clara M Bonnett of the home; a son, Timothy Bonnett (LouAnn) of Clarion, PA; step-sons, Bobby Joe Hallman (Nancy) of Lexington and Jeff Switzer (Linda) of Lexington; a step-daughter, Tracy Causey (Jeff) of Lexington; grandsons, Nickolas Bonnett (Stacey) of Virginia and Cody Bonnett of Pennsylvania; step-grandchildren, Kristy Hutchens (Brandon), Kimberly Tate, Sarah Switzer, Elizabeth Arch, and Tiffiny Ticonni (Tobie); great-grandchilren, Jacoby, Abigail, and Kelby Bonnett; step-great-grandchildren, Justin, Zack, Jason, Kaitlyn, Aiyana, Lennon, Aubrey, Presley, and Brently; and a great-great-grandson, Jaxxon.
