Larry will be missed for his great sense of humor, especially his smile. He was an avid sports fan and coached softball at Mt. Olivet where he went on to win a championship. He loved hunting and fishing until his health declined. He’s also known for having the best garden (no weeds) in the county, also his amazing generosity to the poor and his keeping a home grown watermelon supply to the landmark nursing home. Suffering from polio at an early age never deprived him of any sports or activities in general as an adult. Larry was a long standing member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. He also served as president of the CGG at Cornerstone Baptist for 15 years. He and Delane had been attending Hanes Baptist for the past 3 ½ years, where he loved the people and Sunday school teacher, Larry Walker and pastor, Jason Holley. There will be a celebration of his life 2:00 pm May 1, 2016 at Hanes Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Holley & Larry Walker officiating followed by visitation. A private burial will be held at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church with Pastor, Charlie Riddle. All donations are appreciated and should be made to: Hanes Baptist Church, 4210 Sabrina Lake Rd., Winston Salem, NC 27127 or Kate B.
