Larry Maxwell Leonard, 74 of Lexington, died unexpectedly Monday October 28, 2013. A funeral service will be Friday November 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Good Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chris Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body will lay in state prior to the service from 9 until 11 am. No formal visitation will be held.
Larry was born in Davidson County on August 9, 1939 to Coy and Gladys Leonard. He was a devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many no matter what age. He was an active member of Good Hope United Methodist Church, with the Men’s Bible Class, United Methodist Men and served on numerous committees. He retired from R J Reynolds Tobacco Company in 1991 after 33 years of service. Larry enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved hunting, fishing, watching his grandkids play sports and telling tales with his buddies at the local hang outs. The family will miss him immensely, including his little buddy Snowball. Larry never met a stranger. The community has lost a true friend. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his loving wife of 52 years, LeVonne Hedrick Leonard of the home, children, Ronnie Leonard (Missy), Tia Leonard (Rick Isley) and Brannon Leonard (Jennifer) all of Lexington, grandchildren, Stephanie Leonard of Winston Salem, Erin and Daniel Leonard, Reece Leonard and Talulah Isley all of Lexington, sister, Zana Phillips (Paul) and her family and a brother in law, Reece S. Hedrick and his family.
