Larry Evans Phillips, 68 of Hedrick Mill Rd, Lexington passed away Wednesday November 2nd at Hinkle Hospice House after an extended illness surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Ottis Collins and Billy Norris officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington and at other times at the home. Larry was born in Davidson County on August 18, 1948 to Noah Nornel Phillips and Ilene Duncan Phillips. He graduated from NC State University and retired from the Davidson County schools after 28 years of service. He was a member of Trindale Community Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Gwen Williams and Kathy Wright. Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Gwen Lax Phillips of the home, sons Garrett Lee Phillips (Lea) of Stokesdale and Timothy Matthew Phillips of Lexington; daughters, Alisha Phillips Strickland (Tim) and Emily Phillips Callicutt (Darrin) of Greensboro, five grandchildren, Jacob Phillips, Noah Strickland, Hannah Strickland, Josephine Callicutt and Theodore Callicutt and sister, Geraldine “Gerri” Owens of Lexington; and a friend he loved like a brother, Chuck Solustri.
