Larry Swicegood

Mr. Larry Calvin Swicegood, 75, of Helmstetler Road, died Monday, November 01, at his home after an extended illness.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm Thursday, November 4 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Larry Scott.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

Mr. Swicegood was born October 21, 1946 in Davidson County to Calvin Theodore Swicegood and Patty Sue Shoaf Swicegood. He retired from Davidson County Schools, having taught for 32 years. He served as a coach and athletic director at Tyro Middle School. On weekends, you may have seen him capturing precious memories of weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and other special events. He cherished time traveling with his wife and family, playing ball with his grandchildren and enjoyed hunting in the great outdoors. Larry was an active member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, where he served on many committees over the years. He was also a member of PHA and the NRA.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Williams Swicegood of the home; his daughters, Andrea Swicegood Allmer of Lexington, Dana Swicegood Thomson (Heath) of Rockford, MI, and Shanna Leonard (Bart) of Lexington; his brother, Tim Swicegood (Karen) of Charlotte; and his grandchildren, Zackery Landon Steadman and Nelson Elizabeth Leonard; and his canine companion, Lulu.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 1400 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Lexington NC 27295 or to the donor’s choice.
