Larry Van Smith

Larry Van Smith, 65, of Helmstetler Road, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Bruce Morasco, and his close friend, Ronnie Rummage officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home. Mr. Smith was born August 28, 1946, in Davidson County, to Van Dee Smith and Anna Shoaf Smith Forest. He was a self employed farmer and also had served in the U.S. National Guard. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sons, Nicholas Smith and Joseph Smith. Surviving are his loving wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Smith of the home; son, Joey Smith and fiancé, Shaina Craver, of the home; daughter, Vanessa Garrett and husband, Jason, of Lexington; and sister, Judy Braswell and husband, Jackie, of Lexington.
