Larry Winfred Vaughn, 69, of Ponders Creek Drive, went to be with his Lord, on January 31, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice Home, following an extended illness. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Holly Grove Lutheran Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. John Mocko officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Vaughn will lie in state from 2 to 3 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service at the church fellowship hall. Mr. Vaughn was born May 10, 1943, in Alamance County, to Linnie Winfred Vaughn and Gaynell Bennett Vaughn. He retired from Honda Power Equipment as their Leadperson in Parts and Receiving and a member of Lexcom Pioneer Club. Larry was a devoted, loving, thoughtful and witty husband, a wonderful father, a fun-loving papaw and faithful son. Larry loved being a part of the Vaughn clan and Bennett family. His favorite place to be was Atlantic Beach with his family with a fishing pole in his hand. He loved to shag and had a witty sense of humor. His parents preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Sandra Fine Vaughn, of the home; son, Shawn Vaughn and wife Meagan of Elon; daughters, Kimberly Vaughn Buntin of Burlington and Stephanie Wilson Hearn of Lexington; and grandchildren, Madison Vaughn, Abigail Hearn, Jacob Hearn and Wilson Hearn. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all our friends and family for their love and support throughout the years. A special thanks to all the caregivers; our family, our church family, the staff of the Life Center, Hinkle Hospice House staff, special caregivers Stacey LeBrasseur and Mary Apt. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Memorials may be made to Holly Grove Lutheran Church, 212 Holly Grove Lutheran Church Road, Lexington, NC 27292; or Life Center of Davidson County, 601 West Center Street, Lexington, NC 27292. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7
