Mrs. Laura Mae Weaver Johnson, 88, of Queens Lane, died Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Hinkle Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ, with Mr. Foster Carney officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born on August 19, 1937, in Davidson County, to the late Lawrence Bruce and Verna Mae Crotts Beck.
Mrs. Johnson was a lifelong and very active member of Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ. She was an excellent bowler and liked participating in leagues. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, knitting, traveling, playing cards, canning, and working in the garden. Mrs. Johnson also enjoyed dancing, which led her to her husband, Howard Johnson. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Deborah Weaver; two brothers, Jimmy Beck and Dale Beck; and a son-in-law, Scott Hummel.
Survivors include her husband of 11 years, Ralph Howard Johnson; three daughters, Jamie Hedrick (Mark), Marcia Henriksen (Jim), and Denise Hummel; brother, Frank Beck (Mark); six grandchildren, Ashley, Michael (Heather), Crystal (Nic), Stacie (Tom), Jennifer (Lindsey), and Kayli; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to Hedrick’s Grove Reformed United Church of Christ Handicap Fund, 3840 Allred Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
