Laura Simerson

Laura Guntang Simerson, 78, of Lexington, passed away April 4, 2018 at her home after an extended illness.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12pm Saturday, April 7 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church by the Rev. Ambrose Akinwande.  Burial will follow at Paul’s Chapel Reformed Church Cemetery.    The family will receive friends following the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.    Mrs. Simerson was born on April 4, 1940 in San Manuel, Pangasinan, Philippines to Gregorio Guntang and Rita Paris. Mrs. Simerson was a self-employed beautician before her retirement. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Leberato Glepo; sisters, Elena Eslick, Gloria Steinert, and Carmen Glepo.   She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Steve Simerson; her children, George (Diana) Simerson, Liza (Tim) Griffin, and Jennifer (Matt) Jackson, all of Lexington; seven grandkids, Chenoa (Matthew) Brown, Kea (Eric) Killeen, Tyler (Tiffanie) Simerson, Gabriel (Madison) Simerson, Ava Jackson, Mara Jackson, and Jonah Jackson and her great-grandchildren, Ivy Burleson, Gavin Burleson, Damon Brown, and Miller Simerson.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.
