Lawrence Bruce Beck, 89, of New Bowers Road, died Sunday at the Hospice Home of High Point after an illness of two weeks.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 13, at Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ, where he was a member, officiated by the Revs. David Crook and James Peeler. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. Beck was born January 15, 1918 in Davidson County to John Henry Beck and Iva Lohr Beck. He worked as a carpenter until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Crotts Beck, who died April 24, 2004; a son, Jimmy Bruce Beck and daughter in law, Mary Alice Beck; his brothers: Cromer Beck, Lohr Beck, and Odell Beck; and a sister, Kathleen Thompson.
Surviving are his sons: Lawrence Dale Beck and wife, Sarah and Franklin Lee Beck, both of Lexington; a daughter, Laura Beck Weaver of Lexington; his brothers: Clois “Shorty” Beck and Joe. L. Beck, both of Lexington; his grandchildren: Bryan Beck and wife, Aimee, of the home, Jamie Hedrick, and husband, Mark, Marcia Henriksen, and husband, Jim, Denise Hummel and husband, Scott, Jennifer Anderson and husband, John, Jody Futrell and husband, Jimmy, and Anna Dorsey, and husband, Doug; and his great grandchildren: Ashley Hedrick, Michael Hedrick, Stacie Green, Jennifer Green, Kayli Green, Crystal Luck, Hayley Anderson, Alyssa Futrell, Ashlyn Futrell, Ben Dorsey, Emma Dorsey, Jessica Beck, Hannah Beck, and Iva Beck.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
