Lawrence Clinton Black, age 84, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday (September 25, 2016) at Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ in Lexington, with the Rev. Darrell Sluder officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.
Mr. Black was born on October 4, 1931 in Davidson County to Mont Fuller Black and Nannie Everhart Black. Mr. Black was a retired Electrical Groundskeeper for the City of Lexington, and a lifelong member of Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ. Mr. Black was a life member of the American Legion, the VFW, as well as the Amvets. He was a past Post Commander of the American Legion Post 8, and was also a past District Commander of the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Reid Snyder Black; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Surviving are his son Lawrence Black Jr. and wife, Anderson of Raleigh, NC; two daughters, Theresa Wicker of Mamers, NC, and Monica Welborn and husband, Henry of Cary, NC; 5 grandchildren, Ashley Wicker, Nicholas Wicker, Heather Wicker, Lauren Black, and Hannah Welborn; and 2 great grandchildren, Grayson Wicker, and Logan Hart.
