Lawrence “Bus” Leonard, Sr., age 90, of Tussey Street, Lexington passed away Saturday night
(Oct. 1, 2011) at Brian Center Nursing Care.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday (October 7, 2011) in the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with Dr. Robert Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday.
Bus was born in Davidson County, September 18, 1921 to R. Cicero Leonard and Mae Parks Leonard. He was a retired Auto Body repairman. He was a lifelong member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ. He was a lover of NASCAR and a loyal fan of Dale Earnhardt. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Helen Everhart, Geneva Hedrick, Gladys Kinney, Ethel Chapman, Mary Everhart and Peggy Leonard and brothers, Ed Leonard, Ervin Leonard, Connie Leonard and Raymond Parks.
Mr. Leonard is survived by; his wife, Anna Swing Leonard of the home; two daughters, Angie Harrelson and husband Tony of Lexington, Babette Grubbs and husband Steve of Thomasville; two sons, Lawrence “Buddy” Leonard and wife Linda of Lexington, Terry “Randy” Leonard and wife Diane of High Point; eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Leonard, Chris Leonard, Trent Leonard, Jim Young, Emilee Harrelson Lusk, T.J. Harrelson, Jr., Stephanie Grubbs Smoot and Tiffanie Grubbs Taylor; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew Leonard, Adam Leonard, Brandon Leonard, Sammy Leonard, Corbin Young, Alex Taylor, Bailey Smoot and Jaylynn Lusk ; one sister, Myrtle Whittington of Lexington; one brother, Finch Leonard and wife Mary of Lexington.
