Lawrence Walser Jr. 87, of Piedmont Crossing, Thomasville North Carolina, died Tuesday in the Lexington Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
A graveside service will be 11:00 am Friday, March 6, 2009, at Lexington City Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3074. The Rev. Dr. Walter Patten will officiate.
Mr. Walser was born in Davidson County on December 15, 1921, to Lawrence Odell Walser Sr. and Fairie Flo Everhart Walser. He was an installation manager at Western Electric, a member of First United Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was also a member of VFW Post 3074 and American Legion Post 8. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Della Boyd Wood Walser.
Surviving are his sons, Lawrence Odell Walser III and wife, Sandra, of Salisbury, and Rand Allen Walser of Jamesville, NY; a daughter, Judith Ann Hodge of Manlius, NY; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
