Lee Earl Andrews

Lee Earl “Buddy” Andrews, Jr., 80, of Lexington, died June 12.  Buddy was born Aug. 16, 1940 in Lexington to Lee Earl Andrews, Sr. and Catherine Mitchell Andrews.  He was a 1958 graduate of Lexington Senior High School and a 1964 graduate of High Point University.  After serving in the U.S. Army Reserves, he worked for The Travelers Insurance Company and served as head of Conventions and Tourism for the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce before returning to Lexington.  Buddy then made a career as a furniture representative for several manufacturers, including Hekman Furniture, in North and South Carolina for more than 25 years.  He garnered widespread respect as a salesman and earned numerous sales accolades.

Buddy was a devoted caregiver to many.  He loved shag dancing and had a knack for story- telling that would always leave you laughing.

Surviving are his wife, Sarah Gibson Andrews, of Lexington, his son, Taylor Andrews, of Austin, TX, and a nephew, Joe Andrews, of Winston-Salem.  He is predeceased by his father, Earl Andrews, who was superintendent of Lexington City Schools from 1937 to 1967, his mother, Catherine Andrews, who was organist of the First Baptist Church of Lexington, and his brother, Mitch Andrews.

A private memorial will be held at the First Baptist Church of Lexington.  In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Mountain Vista Health Park, Denton, NC, Hospice of Randolph, or First Baptist Church of Lexington.
