Lee Franklin Thomas, 79, a resident of Welcome-Arcadia Road, died Monday at his home.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 23, at the First Baptist Church of Welcome, with the Revs. Mark Blair and Jeff Vogler officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites.
Mr. Thomas was born February 23, 1929 in Mitchell County to Casson Thomas and Ellen Hall Thomas Wright. He retired from Welcome Exxon and was a member of First Baptist Church of Welcome. His first wife, Betty Grindstaff Thomas, preceded him in death, as well as his sisters, Norma Jean Surratt, Mae DeShield, and Zella Sparks.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Hartley Thomas of the home; his son, Danny Lee Thomas and wife, LuAnn of Wallburg; his daughters: Dinah Thomas Tonsor and husband, Tom, of Midway, Minnee S. Byrd and husband, Mark, and Angela S. Hammonds and husband, Jeff, both of Welcome; his brothers, Al Thomas and wife, Kathy of Mentone, CA, and Ray Thomas, and wife, Louise, of North Augusta, SC; and his sisters, Millie Westerman, and husband, Leroy of Grants Pass, OR, and Nina Bjork, and husband, Curt, of Placentia, CA; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He also was devoted to his family and the Lord.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel, and other times at the home.
