Lena Huggins

Lena Virginia Twiddy Huggins, 78 of Sunbridge Nursing Home, formerly of Walnut Grove Rd., died Friday, July 06, 2007 in Sunbridge Nursing Home after an illness of three months. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 9, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Welcome Church of God with the Rev. Michael Woolard officiating. Burial will follow at the Original Church of God Cemetery. Mrs. Huggins was born in Suffolk, Richmond County,VA on October 8, 1928 to Ernest Edward Twiddy, Sr. and Cora Rhodes Twiddy. She was retired from Buena Vista Nursing Home as a nursing assistant and was a member of Welcome Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. John H. Huggins, Sr. on October 2, 2006 and brothers, William Twiddy and Ernest Twiddy, Jr. also preceded her in death. Surviving is her son, John H. Huggins, Jr. and wife Janet of Lexington; daughters, Leona Owens and husband Floyd and LaVonne Polson and husband Charles all of Lexington; grandchildren, Sheryl Weaver; Beverly Owens; Christopher Polson; Lynn Polson; Heather Huggins; Amber Cassada; and Heather Cassada; great grandchildren, Hayley Huggins; Ariana Weaver; Jordan Hollingsworth and Paige Polson; sisters, Faye Whittington of High Point; Ruby Cardwell of Sophia; Essie Mae Adams of High Point and Margaret Constantino of Hammonton, New Jersey. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington, and at other times at the home of her son, John Huggins, Jr. 283 Workman Rd.
