Lena Mary Phelps Mulkey, 77, of Irma Avenue, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Rosier Wilson. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Mulkey was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Davidson County to Dalton Phelps and Viola Cope Phelps. She attended Arcadia School and was retired from Manhattan Shirt Co. She was a founding member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies Home League of the Salvation Army. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Roy C. Phelps; and a husband, Walter J. Dillard.
Surviving are former husbands James H. Spaugh and Roger C. Mulkey; a son, James D. Spaugh of Fleetwood Falls; a daughter, Lillian Wingfield of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren, Randy Wingfield, Timothy Wingfield, James D. Spaugh, Pamela Horton, Katie Davenport and Tina Spaugh; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Howard C. Phelps of Chesterfield, S.C.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
