Lena Hunt Owens

Lena Hunt Owens, 91, of N.C. Highway 8 South, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, at Alston Brook Nursing Home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stoner's Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, by the Revs. Billy Pearson and R.N. Hardin. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Owens was born May 15, 1915, in Davidson County to Jones Hunt and Louise Young Hunt. She was a homemaker, former Sunday school teacher and choir member at her church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lindsay Hunt. Surviving are her husband, Harvey L. Owens of the home; two sons, Calvin Owens and his wife, Becky, and Rodney Owens and his wife, Donna, all of Lexington; and four grandchildren, Donny Owens, Darren Owens, Nicholas Owens and Dane Owens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church and other times at the home. Memorials may be directed to Stoner's Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 183, Southmont, NC 27351.
