Lena Rickard Snider

Lena Rickard Snider, 93 of Old Salisbury Road, Linwood North Carolina, died Monday January 7, 2019 at the home of her niece, Linda Thomas,  in Rowan County.   A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday at Churchland Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Stephens officiating services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm Thursday at the church, prior to the service.   Mrs. Snider was born June 9, 1925 in Davidson County to Lewis Edwin Rickard and Mary Lou Lomax Rickard. Lena  was a life time member of Churchland Baptist Church and was active in all phases of church activities until her death. Her passion for teaching young adults never wavered, and still lives on today in the lives of those she taught. She will long be remembered in the hearts of her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews for the care that she so willingly gave to them in their young lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sherman Lester Snider, two brothers, Ottis Rickard and Swaim Rickard, and two sisters, Inez Rickard and Irene Barrier.   She is survivied by three sons, David Snider (Shannon), Bruce Snider (Kathy), both of Georgia and Jeffrey Snider of Linwood; one sister, Idalia Snider of Salisbury, 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Snider, Austin Snider, Barbara Hupp and Johnnie Rae Smith; 11 nieces, Joy Gerock, Linda Thomas, Gayle Wilson, Barbara Shoaf, Lou Ellen Cobb, Meg Curry, Becky Rhodes, Wendy Brodar, Peggy Parker, Faye Eller, and Libby Rogers; 2 nephews, Bobby Barrier and Carlton Rickard and special friends Teresa Snider and Carolyn Potter.   Memorials may be made to Churchland Baptist Church 7464 S.
