Leon Franklin Freedle age 86 of Winston Salem has gone to be with Jesus. He passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2012.
A memorial service will be 7:30 pm Friday, October 12, 2012 at Victory Baptist Church ( 280 Clodfelter Road ) with Rev. Cecil Worley. The family will receive friends 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm before the service.
Leon was born April 11, 1926 in Davidson County to Henry Freedle and Grace Leonard Freedle. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church for 40 years. He took great pride mowing the lawn for his church. He retired with R J Reynolds after 33 years of service. One of the enjoyments of his life was sitting under his carport talking to everyone that came by. He enjoyed planting a garden, so he could give to others. Traveling was one of the high lights of his life that included fishing trips to the coast. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first late wife, Nellie Hughes Freedle, a son Roger Freedle, a stepdaughter, Brenda Puckett, two son in laws, Bobby Sweat, Daniel Durham and two brothers.
Surving are his wife of 34 years that he was generous and faithful to, Dorothy Shutt Carpenter Freedle of the home, his daughters; Daisy Turner (David), Donna Durham, Karen Cooke (Lee), Charlene Irizarry, Linda Capps, Melba Carpenter, Rita Sweat, Shirley Carpenter, his sons; Ricky Freedle, Baxter Edison, 16 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Three sisters.
