Leona Hartley

Leona Hartley Leona Swicegood Hartley, age 87 of South NC Highway 150, Linwood passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Hinkle Hospice House. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Churchland Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Wilkes officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Inurnment will be at a later date at Salisbury National Cemetery. Leona was born in Davidson County April 23, 1928 to Woodson Swicegood and Afton Williams Swicegood. She was a lifelong member of Churchland Baptist Church and was a retired Registered Nurse with the VA Medical Center in Salisbury. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Brinson and Lois Snider. Surviving are her loving husband of 68 years and 11 months, Thomas Mock Hartley of the home; daughter, Kaye Hartley Stokes (Michael) of Concord; son, Ronald Conway Hartley (Gerri) of Lexington; granddaughter, Meredith Stokes Barbour (Robert), grandsons, Ryan Michael Stokes (Christian), Brian Holt (Leigh Ann) and Danny Hartley; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Hannah, Justin, Meredith, Thomas and Joshua; sister, Daphne Church.
