Leota Cranford Conrad, 94, of Centerclair Nursing Home and formerly of Nat Conrad Road, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at the nursing home after three years of declining health.
The funeral will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at Holly Grove Lutheran Church, where she was a member, led by Pastor John Mocko. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Conrad was born in Davidson County on May 5, 1912, to James Preston Cranford and Dora Alice Collins Cranford. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and a member of the Holly Grove Senior Citizens and Holly Grove Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Conrad; a son, James Edwin Conrad; a daughter, Doris Rose; two brothers, James Earwin Cranford and Bobby Carlton Cranford; and two sisters, Aline Cranford Everhart and Swannell Cranford Faulkner.
Surviving are a son, Aldean "Dean" Conrad and his wife, Barbara, of Lexington; a son-in-law, Austin Rose of Lexington; a daughter-in-law, Cornelia Hedrick Conrad of Lexington; 10 grandchildren, Harold Rose and his wife, Judy, Shelia Hanes, Randy Rose and his wife, Lateffa, Glenna Garner and her husband, Steve, Lydia Rose, Barry Conrad and his wife, Jill, Cindy Hartley and her husband, Joel, Wynn Conrad and his wife, Annette, Sherry Proctor and her husband, Ted, Jack Conrad and his wife, Teresa, and Jim Conrad and his wife, Rosalind, all of Lexington; 19 great-grandchildren, Michael Rose of Seattle, Wash., Greg Rose, Nathan Rose, Travis Rose and his wife, Adrian, Kristal Rose, Randi Hileman and her husband, Robbie, Taylor Hanes, Charles Garner, Brian Garner, Nina Conrad, Jenny Hartley, Ethan Conrad, Claire Conrad, Brandi Conrad, Chrissy Conrad, Jon Proctor, Jay Proctor, all of Lexington, Jessica Proctor of High Point, and Keeli Proctor of Carolina Beach; four great-great-grandchildren, Breanna Rose, Colton Rose, Carson Rose and Austin Garner.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at the son's home on Heath Church Road.
