Mr. Leroy Jackson Byerly, 86, of 1738 Friendship Church Road passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after a brief illness. Mr. Byerly was born March 18, 1927, to Joseph Fred and Sina Fishel Byerly. Mr. Byerly was a retired machinist from Dacotah Mills and a member of Reeds Baptist Church where he served as deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and treasurer. Mr. Byerly enjoyed farming, fixing everything, and joking. He never met a stranger.
He was married to Carrie Morphis Byerly for 55 years who preceded him in death, along with a son Charles Leroy Byerly. He is survived by two daughters…Carol Myers (Evan) of Winston Salem and Cathy Byerly of Mocksville. Also surviving are two grandchildren…Alisa Myers Henderson (Mike) and Charles Myers, two great grandchildren Brian and Caroline Henderson all of Winston Salem and a very special friend Marilyn Hill of Clemmons.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, April 30th at Reeds Baptist Church at 4 pm by Rev. Keith Edwards and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday night, April 29th, at Davidson Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. and other times at the daughter’s respective homes.
