LeRoy McCarn, 77, of East Center Street Ext., died Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, following a three month illness.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in Linwood United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel and other times at the home.
Mr. McCarn was born April 12, 1935, in Davidson County, to Griffie Milton McCarn and Girlie Kate Broadway McCarn. He was the former owner operator of the Country Kitchen in Midway and instrumental in drawing Cagney’s Kitchen to Lexington. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Jack McCarn, Richard McCarn, and Harold McCarn; and sister, Margaret McCarn Atkins.
Surviving are his loving wife, Ruby Lohr McCarn of the home; sons, Reggie Lee McCarn and life partner, Jack Medinger, of Washington, DC; and Jimmy Davis and wife, Linda, of Churchland; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny McCarn and wife, Carolyn, of Lexington; a sister, Willie Veigh Fitzgerald of Lexington; special nephews, Kris and Todd McCarn, and numerous other nieces and nephews, and many friends at Cagney’s Kitchen; and his loving canine companion, Cody.
