Leroy "Junior" Smith, Jr.

September 16, 1962 — May 22, 2024

Leroy Smith, Jr better known as “Junior” entered his Heavenly home on Wednesday May 22, 2024, at the age of 61 at High Point Regional Hospital.

Junior was born to Leroy Smith, Sr and Mary Holbrook Smith on September 16, 1962, in Davidson County. He was of the Baptist faith. He worked most of his life as a brick mason as well as a plumber.

He was a well-known musician in these parts for his guitar picking and one of the best classic country and southern gospel voices you could hear. He opened up a dancehall in the early 2000’s because of his love for music and played with the best musicians you could think of around here that bonded lifetime friendships. He called it “JR’s County Line” located beside Tabernacle Fire Dept and kept it open for several years, providing the public with a clean, safe and fun atmosphere to hear some great live music.

Junior was known for his caring and giving heart, having held tons of benefits for countless individuals and families that were in need. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone he knew and many he didn’t. He had a huge heart and his love and kindness impacted so many along the way. This world could surely use more Juniors today.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Larry Dale Smith, and two sisters Wanda Knote (Von) and Lynn Smith.

He is survived by his daughters Brandy Smith-Hollman (Tad), and Hannah Cockerham and one son, Danny Husted (Elisabeth). Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Gracie (his love bug and hero), Chloe (love bug #2 and GB), Skyler, Elias, Isabella, Rachel and Aaron. Two sisters, Rebecca Walker and Cynthia Smith, and brother-in-law Frankie Bullins. Also included is the love of his life and best friend, Angel Marsh. Special friends also surviving are Sharon Smith, as well as Shannon Tolbert (Bessie), Donald Ray Tysinger (Darla), and Buddy Long (Fran) who were like brothers.

The family will receive friends at 288 John T. Farabee Lane, Lexington NC 27295
