Lester Ray Burnette

Lester Ray Burnette, age 79, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Harris and Assistant Pastor T.W. Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors. The family will be receiving friends 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. Lester was born January 11, 1933 in Mecklenburg County to William Lester Burnette and Lessie Mae Kisiah Burnette. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. He retired from JMB Income Properties and was an entrepreneur in his own right. He had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, his five brothers and one sister. Lester was a loving husband, father and pawpaw. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Jo Cochrane Burnette; his sons; Ray Burnette and wife Joan , Rock Burnette and wife Carole, Randy Burnette and wife Cindy, his grandchildren; Wes Burnette and wife Heather, Jenni Burnette and Andy Henderson, Daryl Burnette and wife Leah, Bit Turbeville and husband Lucas, Jacob Burnette and wife Lauren, Scott Potter, Sam Barton, and Nathan Johnson and wife Anne.
