Lester Gray Jones went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, at his home in Chapin, South Carolina.
There will be a service for Gray in the Chapel of Tyro Methodist Church, where Gray was a member since 1969, on Wednesday October 1st, 2025, at 2:30 pm, conducted by Reverend Randy Foster. This will be followed by an interment at Bethel Cemetery. The family will greet visitors prior to the service in the Chapel from 2 pm until 2:30 pm prior to the service.
Gray was formerly a resident of the Tyro community of Lexington, NC, for over 50 years. He was born October 31st, 1938, at home in Davie County, NC, to Joe and Bessie Jones. Gray was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed at Fort Carson, CO. For most of his working life he was a salesman, selling automobiles at Davis Chevrolet and M&L Motors in Lexington. He later owned and operated Custom Designed Sunrooms and Windows. He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Monna Jones of Rock Hill, SC; and his sister, Mozelle Nichols of Rock Hill, SC.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Carla; his son, Jeffrey and his wife Dr. Heather Jones of Chapin, SC; his grandson, Austin Gray Jones of Charlotte; his granddaughter, Reiley Jones of Myrtle Beach; his sister, Shirley Jacobs of Cooleemee; five nephews; one niece; and their families.
The family wishes no flowers and any donations be made to the charity of choice or to the Tyro Methodist Building Fund at 4484 S NC HWY 150, Lexington, NC 27295.
