Levoe Hilton Beckerdite

Levoe Hilton Beckerdite, our beloved mother, peacefully passed away on January 3, 2026 at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville. 

She was born August 29, 1932 in Thomasville, North Carolina to the late Mary Eliza and Harry Lee Hilton. She attended Midway School and later received her GED.

Levoe was married in 1949 to Ralph Beckerdite until his passing in 2006. 

Their chicken stews at the end of tobacco harvest were happily anticipated by family and neighbors. A good cook, she made that and other big family meals look effortless. Mama enjoyed travelling – to Florida, Virginia, Out West, Myrtle Beach, and cruising to Hawaii and Alaska. But she liked nothing better than spending time with her children and grandchildren, and later – great-grandchildren. 

Levoe and Ralph were longtime members of Midway United Methodist Church. She was one of the “chicken pie ladies” whose efforts helped pay for the Christian Fellowship Center at the church. 

In addition to Ralph and her parents, Levoe is preceded in death by her sister Sarah Smith, brother Glenn Hilton, and grandson Gibson Beckerdite. 

She is survived by her daughters Sandra (Jack) Meadwell, Cheryl (Jay) Rogers, Kristi (Marvin) Hill, Tammy (Malcolm) Ellington; and son Ralph Beckerdite, Jr.; eleven grandchildren: Brooke (PJ) Maiello, Shannon Johnson, Erin Muller, Dustin (Jerri Anne) Hill, Kelsey (Taylor) Webb, Adam (Miranda) Everhart, Alyssa Everhart, Ragan Ellington, Baily and Alec Beckerdite; fourteen great-grandchildren: Alex Gray, Aven Bullins, Montgomery Maiello, Kathryn Muller, Hattie Hill, Taylor Manuel, Brock, Stella and Clara Webb, Brantley, Brynleigh and Kylie Everhart, and Paizley and Pyper Monk; sister Louise Boswell, sister-in-law Georgia Smith and brother-in-law Charles Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her daughters extend their gratitude to the staff of The Life Center of Davidson County where she attended for several years.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at Midway Church in Lexington.
