Lewis "Rosie" Roosevelt Nicholson

October 3, 1928 — July 21, 2025

Lewis Roosevelt (Rosie) Nicholson, age 96 beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on July 21, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family and caregivers.

A funeral service to honor his life will be held at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel on Monday, July 28th at 2:00 pm with Rev. Doug McGee officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service.

Rosie was born in Sylva, NC on October 3, 1928 to the late William Nicholson and Sarah Davenport Nicholson. He served in the US Army and was a retired Lieutenant with the Lexington Police Department. He was preceded in death by his wife Mae Frizzell Nicholson, his parents, four brothers and five sisters.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Robert “Nick” Nicholson (Lynn), daughter, JoAnn Hutchins (Rick), grandsons, Bobby Nicholson (Lorie), Brandon Hutchins (Brooke), granddaughters Marnie Nicholson Stoker and Brooke Coffey (Chevy); great-grandchildren, Seth and Cole Hutchins, Mali Coffey, Robert Lewis (Tripp) Nicholson, III.

Rosie loved gardening, “saving the world” over McDonalds coffee and time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A special thanks to his caregivers Becky McMillian, Tina Staples, Cory Trollinger, Tori Tracy, Savannah Cooper, Kalyssa Hutchens and Megan Barham.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County or Cancer Services of Davidson County.
