Libby Leonard Strass

Libby Leonard Strass, 47, died Monday, May 8, 2006, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after an illness of seven years. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Cotton Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Ed Armfield. Mrs. Leonard was born Aug. 22, 1958, in Davidson County to Calvin Thomas Leonard and Mildred Tysinger Leonard. She was a former bus driver and cafeteria staff member with the Davidson County school system. At her church, she was a member of the Corner Stones Sunday School Class, a former elementary youth counselor and a member of the Clown Ministry. Surviving are her husband, Jay Thomas Strass of the home; two sons, Jacob Thomas Strass and Shilo Christian Strass, both of the home; a brother, Terry Wayne Leonard and his wife, Kathy, of Lexington; a nephew, Josh Leonard; a niece, Dawn Walker and her husband, Chad, of Lexington; and a great-niece, Rebecca Walker of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cotton Grove UMC and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Cotton Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, 175 Jersey Church Road, Lexington, NC 27292, and Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, NC 27293. Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, is serving the family.
