Mrs. Lila Mae Latham Dunn Barnes, 89, of Westover Drive, died Sunday, December 16, at the Hinkle Hospice House after a serious illness of six weeks. A funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 18 from the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Dennis Marshall. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at Davidson Funeral Home. Mrs. Barnes was born December 25, 1922 in Davidson County to Harvey Lee and Sadie Weaver Latham. She retired from PPG Industries and was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. Her first husband, Leroy Dunn, preceded her in death, as well as her brothers, Foy Latham, Wade Latham, Shamel Latham, Austin Reid Latham, and Robert Latham; and her sisters, Mildred Hart, Jean Rummage, and Martha Leonard. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Ralph Barnes, of the home; sons, Lee Roy Dunn, Jr. and wife, Ella, and Calvin Boyd Dunn and wife, Deana, both of Lexington; her daughter, Teresa Dunn Snyder and husband, Mike, of Lexington; her step sons, Tommy Barnes and wife, Cheryl, of Charlotte and Eddie Barnes of Vermont; her step daughter, Alda Bean and husband, Phil, of Charlotte; her brothers, Willard Latham and Jack Latham, both of Lexington; her sisters, Irene Barnes and Kathleen Michael, both of Lexington, and Lucille Queen and husband, Thurman, of West Virginia; six grandchildren, five step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and eight step great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.
