Lillie “Marie” Hayes Fritts, 78, of Conrad Hill Mine Rd., Lexington passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016 in Hospice of Davidson County after a one week illness. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frankie Matthews officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Davidson Funeral Home. Mrs. Fritts was born June 16, 1937 in Columbus County, NC to Lonzie Guy Hayes and Orlean Strickland Hayes. She was a retired supervisor for Burlington House Furniture and a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church. Marie was happily married for 41 years to Amos Fritts and shared her passion in growing and showing roses for over 30 years with American Rose Society, Winston-Salem Rose Society and Rowan Rose Society. She was awarded numerous awards. A miniature Rose was named “ Lillie Marie” after her and was known for their roses in eight other states. She enjoyed fishing and God’s great outdoors. Preceding her in death was a son-in-law, Jerry Walters, five brothers, a sister, a brother-in-law and two sister-in-laws. Surviving are are husband, Amos Augustus Fritts of the home; a son, Benny Ray Coleman (Janet) of Thomasville; three daughters, Sharon Ann Mixon (Wesley), Donna Kay Grubb (Michael), Kathy Marie Walters all of Lexington; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a sister, Jill Carlene Couch (Mike); a sister-in-law, Lillie Hayes.
