Lillie Byrd Newell

Lillie Byrd Newell, 79, of Hunt Road, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at her home. No services will be held at this time. Interment will be at a later date in National Cemetery, Salisbury. Mrs. Newell was born July 10, 1930, in Davidson County, to Oliver Harrison Byrd and Hattie Henley Byrd. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Surviving are her husband, Cleo H. Newell of the home; sons, Tony Lee Newell and wife, Kathy, of Tucson, Az., and Robert Harold Newell and wife, Rita, of Bristol, Va.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
