Lilly Penninger

Lilly Kathleen Wofford Penninger, 91, of J.M. Penninger Road, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jersey Baptist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Michael Collier. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Penninger was born June 12, 1915, in Davidson County to John Hugh Wofford and Annie Roach Wofford. She was a former employee of Linwood Veneer and Erlanger Mills. She was active in the Negrin Group, the Ladies No. 4 Sunday School Class and the Senior Citizen Group at her church. She was also a member of the Linwood Home Extension Club and Linwood Senior Citizens Group. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Nelson Penninger Jr., and two brothers, Conrad Warfford and Marvin Wofford. Surviving are her son, Glenn Penninger and his wife, Brenda, of Lexington; one daughter, Doris Farmer and her husband, Boyd, of Ennice, N.C.; six grandchildren, Scott Farmer and his wife, Tracy, Joel Farmer and his wife, Kelly, David Penninger and his wife, Jennifer, Paul Penninger and his wife, Meredith, Thomas Penninger and his wife, Robin, and Timothy Penninger and his wife, Penny; 11 great-grandchildren, Daniel Farmer, Grace Farmer, Jacob Farmer, Sarah Henry, Brock Henry, Abigail Penninger, McKenzie Penninger, Ryan Penninger, Seth Penninger, Matthew Penninger and Katie Penninger; and one sister, Genetta Sink of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Monday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Jersey Baptist Benevolent Fund, 2920 Jersey Church Road (P.O. Box 849), Linwood, NC 27299.
