In Loving Memory of Linda Gayle Freedle Clodfelter

Linda Gayle was born in Davidson County on May 19, 1945, and passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy defined by vibrant energy, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her family. Known as a woman who never met a stranger, Linda brought warmth and connection into every room she entered.

Linda learned early on the importance of hard work and self-reliance. Determined to build a bright future for her children, she prioritized education, talent, and independence, ensuring her family had every opportunity to succeed and thrive on their own terms. She was deeply rooted in her faith and remained actively involved in the church throughout her life.

A woman of remarkable drive and work ethic, Linda had a distinguished career and did not retire until the age of 80. She had an innate ability to connect with anyone—whether chatting up celebrities like Rod Stewart in Macy’s, getting a NYC street vendor to share his secret hotdog recipe, or sharing a conversation with locals at a neighborhood event. Linda deeply cherished her friends and church family.

Linda had a passion for interior design, fine furniture, and always ensured she was polished and put together before stepping out. Yet, behind her southern charm and classic style was a woman grounded in simple truths. Her love language was expressively shown through her generosity and her extraordinary cooking. No gathering was complete without her legendary potato salad or chocolate pies, which she always made in generous abundance.

Above all, Linda was a guiding force who taught those around her to overcome life's obstacles with resilience and self-assurance. Her presence and unique wisdom will be deeply missed. Whenever you see a cardinal or hummingbird, admire a beautiful floral arrangement or fine piece of furniture, or enjoy a slice of chocolate pie, remember Linda.

Along with her parents; Raymond Elwood Freedle and Gurla Mae Hanes Freedle; she was preceded in death by her grandson, Logan Mack Clodfelter, and three brothers, David, Ronald, and Ray Von Freedle.

Linda is survived by her loving family, husband of 62 years, Terry Mack Clodfelter, of the home; children, Lynn Clodfelter and wife, Elaine, of Norwood, NC; and Amy Clodfelter, of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; treasured granddaughter, Hailey Lyn Clodfelter; sister, Donna Freedle Castro; and precious grand dog, Leroy.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at First Baptist of Welcome, 404 Welcome-Arcadia Rd. Lexington, NC 27295, with Pastor Jonathan Goodman officiating.
