Linda Poarch Hanes, 78, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, January 2nd, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, January 6th,at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. Following the service, Linda will be laid to rest at Shiloh Church Cemetery. Those wishing to pay their respects may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
Born on October 18th, 1946 in Caldwell County to Andy Poarch and Ruth Craig Poarch, Linda enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with Duracell Battery, where she diligently worked for many years before retiring. Her commitment to her work and her colleagues was admirable. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and gardening and working in her yard. Her brothers, Johnny Poarch and Andy Poarch, and her sisters, Emogene Mitchell and Irene Mattingly, preceded her in death.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She is survived by her loving husband, John Wesley Hanes, of the home; her daughter, Glenda Hanes Essic and her husband, Charles, and their children,Travis Essic, and Krysta Beaureguard and her husband, Michael, and her great-grandson, Kolton Beaureguard; her son, Johnny Ray Hanes and his wife, Lisa, and his daughter, Keely and her children,Thea and Gwen; her brothers, Floyd Poarch and Tommy Poarch and his son, Andy, both of Lexington;
her sister, Joybelle Watson of Caldwell County; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 501 St Jude's Place, Memphis TN 38105.
